I’ve reached that age where my beloved friends and family members are either getting married or having children and it is a beautiful blessing to be part of each journey. Besides giving a gift and being part of their big days, I’ve been wanting to be a bit more creative since the idea of Lilspirations was bloomed last year. The timing couldn’t have been better when my friend’s aunt asked me and another friend to throw a baby shower!
Though our friend didn’t have a theme preference, we knew an all-around animal theme would be perfect. Let it be farm, zoo, or safari, who doesn’t love cute animals decorated with icing or sketched onto onesies? (Her registry was filled with adorable items that had animals on them too).
Here were some of my favorite pictures from her shower.
Red velvet cake with cream cheese icing (no fondant!) from Cake Boss Cafe in Times Square. It’s the only location in Manhattan where you can get a taste of the famous cakes from Carlos’ Bakery in Hoboken. The guests loved it! The cake was soft and not overly sweet.
On the invitation, we asked guests to bring decorated onesies to hang on a line with giraffe clothespins. (You can also make your own). Not only were many onesies designed by markers and fabric paint in great creativity, but some guests had them customized! It was a sight to see.
With plenty of baby things around, it’s better to have something easily tucked away than a huge scrapbook with empty pages. : ) Since we had a onesie clothesline, a onesie scrapbook would fit in perfectly. Made with card stock and Sharpie. The letters in “guestbook” were created with stamp and heat embossing.
Lastly, I made these Avery labels through their website’s templates and placed one on each guest’s party favor to take home as a thank you gift. There is a great amount of templates to choose from, but this one popped out at me with cuteness!
The mother-to-be was simply beautiful and it was a joy being able to put this shower together for her. Success 🙂 We can’t wait to meet the baby boy in March! xoxo
