Do you ever feel like you want to own everything inside of a catalog or a store such as Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn, or West Elm? (Sometimes I do!) It’s one thing to own beautiful things for the home from these stores, but it’s a whole other level when it’s homemade and crafted by local artists such as Kristen Juen from www.saksajuen.com. She creates organic modern, hand-built ceramics for unique spaces and focuses on creating forms that are intentionally handmade, not like everything else. With all that she makes, she has one strong desire: “I hope my designs spark a connection with nature for modern spaces!”
This love for creation didn’t just bloom from anywhere. She grew up exploring the outdoors and studying botany. But where does her inspiration for her ceramic planters come from? “The textures and forms from nature. The landscapes, everything from mountains, to ridges and valleys.” As we are currently collaborating on a 72 hour giveaway on our Instagrams (Here’s Kristen’s – @Kristensaksajuen), Kristen’s giving away one of the splatter planters! Here’s what she has to say about the unique item. “My giveaway planter is called the Lee, inspired by windy slopes where you can take shelter on the leeward side. I love how the splatter glaze reflects wind on the sides of rolling hills. I hope it is enjoyed!”
I’m 100% positive it will be enjoyed, so don’t forget to enter the giveaway! Thanks for sharing your work, Kristen, and I hope your inspirations from nature never stops!
