If you haven’t been to the New Museum in New York to check out Pipilotti Rist: Pixel Forest yet, you have till January 15th before it closes! Otherwise, here’s a glimpse of the exhibit at this museum on Bowery. I thought you might like to see some of the artist’s work just in case 🙂
Instagrammers and social media users have been posting photos of the exhibit since back in October. I didn’t have the time to go visit until last week. The New Museum is literally quite new. It’s small, but a few floors with a lot of interesting perspectives of art. The content is definitely not for children, as nudity in some of the displays is part of the work. Admission is $18 for adults, but psssttt… teachers with a DOE card get two tickets for free. : )
On this visit, we came purely to see “Pipilotti Rist: Pixel Forest,” a comprehensive compilation of renowned artist, Pipilotti Rist’s work up to today. It includes work from her entire career, from videos she took in the 1980s to video installations in massive dreamlike environments with music. It was a very different type of museum visit for me, but you can see her work really brings viewers into all types of encounters. You might lay on a bed to view some of the videos, or watch some being projected onto fabric hung from the ceiling. Here were a few of the photos I took of the exhibit. You can tell the floor with the hanging lights was the most fun for photo-taking.
So if you’re in the NYC area and you haven’t visited yet, go for it! 🙂 Have fun with the photo shoot – it’s not everyday you have pretty lights that change colors around you!
As always, thanks for reading! xoxo
