Saxon & Parole is perhaps one of the more famous restaurants serving brunch in lower Manhattan and I’m so glad I finally got to try it. Although this post won’t include a food review, I highly recommend its unique twist on the popular meal (and interesting choice of ingredients in the drinks!)
Recently, my sister-in-law was thrown a baby shower here in a private room at the back. The atmosphere was classy, comfortable, and sophisticated. The staff at the restaurant were a delight and so incredibly helpful, it was almost like having your own entourage for 3 hours. Her friends did an incredible job throwing a “tutu” theme for the new mother-to-be! Every piece put together for the shower was so noticeably detailed and creative, I just had to share it with everyone.
As you walked into the room, a table was filled with sweets (candies, Pocky sticks, cake pops), Hyacinth flowers, toys (rattles, stuffed animals), and treat bags. In the back was a table of pink cupcakes, which of course was flavored strawberry. Guests’ presents were encouraged to be placed along the ground for display as they walked past towards their table spots.
When you got to your seat, a small piggy bank with a handcrafted tutu and personalized menu greeted you.
Some of the creativity at the shower blew my mind. Here, two friends had created their own versions of diaper cakes. Traditionally, a diaper cake is literally a cake made out of diapers, but here they had made a baby carriage with diapers as the wheels and a hot air balloon. I wonder, what were their inspirations? 🙂
During the shower, everyone was encouraged to draw their own onesies. I think this is the highlight activity for every shower because it’s a great keepsake for the parents to remember all guests. It’s also incredibly fun to see the baby wear the different designs made by his/her own friends and relatives!
At the end of the day, the mother-to-be had a great time and it was really nice to see everything come together. A huge thanks to Jen and Nita for throwing a great shower and also allowing me to post some of my pictures on this site.
Lastly, a huge congratulations to my sister-in-law & brother-in-law! I’m so excited!
